Nava Barenji is an Iranian artist who has established herself in the United States, where she currently resides. Her artistic journey revolves around the fusion of Persian culture with a profound exploration of the role of women in contemporary society. At the heart of her artistic mission lies the intent to shed light on the multifaceted relationship between Persian cultural heritage and the status of women.
Barenji’s creative process is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Persian art, particularly the intricacies of Persian miniatures and the captivating narratives found in Persian mythologies. These elements serve as a foundation upon which she builds her artistic expressions. Her work masterfully intertwines these traditional aspects with contemporary portrayals of women, creating a powerful commentary on the complex interplay between tradition and modernity.

Barenji holds an MFA in painting from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York and completed her bachelor’s degree in graphic design at Al-Zahra University in Tehran, Iran. Her work has been showcased both nationally and internationally in both solo and group exhibitions.
